She will be cycling in aid of three charities. Below is Erika's motivation for participating in the race. Please open your hearts and purses for this very worthy pursuit! Why am I cycling 12 000 km. I'm doing this for a couple of reasons; firstly I am doing it for the following charities Cancer research, Starfish (HIV) in South Africa and SIA (Spinal Injuries Association). Cancer because I'm a cancer survivor. Starfish because of the work they do for HIV. Tour d'Afrique also donate cycles in each country we pass through for the medical worker to reach more HIV patients who cant come to the medical facilities. SIA because I have worked with people with spinal injuries and believe that anybody with a spinal injury should lead a independent life in their own homes.
